About Healthy Community Initiative (HCI)
Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) is a nonprofit 501c3 organization headquartered in Northfield, Minnesota. HCI advances health and racial equity by expanding educational and economic opportunity in Rice County, Minnesota. HCI’s mission is to cultivate collaborative communities that support, value, and empower youth.
HCI serves as a backbone organization for more than 25 Rice County area youth- and family-serving programs and initiatives. We currently have 39 employees, approximately 35 FTE. Employees are a mix of in-person, hybrid, and remote.
Objective
HCI is soliciting offers from human resources consulting firms to provide contracted HR services for 10 hours per week for nine months starting on June 2, 2025.
Scope of Services
HCI is seeking assistance to:
- Create a transition plan and project manage the transition to Quickbooks Online timekeeping and payroll in partnership with the Operations Director.
- Investigate, make recommendations, and facilitate implementation of benefits and related employment policies and practices to enhance employee recruitment and retention.
- Field disciplinary matters, disputes, and investigations as requested; provide guidance to the supervisory team to effectively address employment-related issues or concerns.
- Investigate, make recommendations, and facilitate implementation of policies and practices that keep HCI compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Perform HR generalist tasks, including those related compensation, benefits, and leave; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale, etc.
Proposal Elements
Interested firms are asked to submit a proposal that addresses the following:
- Nonprofit Experience: Explanation and examples of experience working with small- to mid-sized Minnesota-based nonprofits.
- Systems Expertise: Evidence of expertise using Quickbooks Online.
- Project Management: Examples of experience supporting preparation, planning, and implementation of human resources technology and systems, including rollout to employees through training and support.
