Finance Manager

HCI seeks a technology-forward, strategically minded finance professional to oversee its financial controls and procedures and manage its organization budget and finances using technology and tools that create efficiencies and cost-savings for the organization. The right candidate will be eager to serve as part of a leadership team and develop broader executive management skills that lead to career growth within the organization.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate Committees

  • Alongside the Executive Director, provide staff support to the HCI Finance Committee and HCI Development Committee (prepare budget updates, agendas, reports; convene Committee members monthly; complete tasks between meetings)

Serve as signer/approver

  • Review and approve bills, invoices, and contracts in absence of Executive Director
  • Read, understand, and construct contracts, service agreements and memorandums of understanding

Oversee financial controls and procedures

  • Review financial policies and practices regularly and recommend/implement improvements to sustain the organization’s financial health
  • Create, review, and share monthly financial reports with applicable staff and Committees
  • Coordinate invoicing and audits

Create and manage organization and program budgets

  • Monitor grants/contracts and create/maintain long-term financial projections reports
  • Communicate with insurance carriers and vendors to benchmark and negotiate pricing; lead lease discussions and manage space costs for HCI offices
  • Manage ledgers and investments

Manage payroll

  • Facilitate biweekly payroll
  • Monitor timely submission of state and federal payroll tax forms

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, or finance with at least 5 years of experience; OR a relevant Master’s degree with three years of experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of budget creation and analysis software
  • Proficient in Quickbooks Online, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to create and manage complex budgets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with superior attention to detail
  • Thorough understanding of budgetary and accounting principles, practices, and policies (preferably demonstrated through previous work in a nonprofit setting)
  • Capable of completing work on time in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude – excellent ability to multitask and troubleshoot issues
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as a member of a team
  • Willingness to maintain the standards, carry out the purpose, and adhere to the policies of HCI
  • Maintenance of a cell phone is an expectation of employment
