Pay: $21.00 – $25.00 per hour

About the Role
We are seeking a strategic, collaborative, and mission-driven Program Coordinator to join our RISE team. The Faribault Rise Coordinators are responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of systems and programs that support RISE students with their academic success, school engagement, and future planning.
Program Overview
RISE (Realizing Individual Student Excellence) is an advising program for Faribault students needing academic support – as well as additional/intentional mentoring – to overcome barriers in their lives. RISE is an asset- and strengths-based effort focused on students of color, students experiencing poverty, and/or students who are English Learners. The core of the program is to build a trusting relationship between students and caring, trained mentors who advocate on behalf of students and help overcome challenges they face in their lives.
Responsibilities:
- Track student progress and hold weekly individual academic counseling sessions with each RISE student.
- Develop personalized plans with students to identify strengths, needs, interventions, goals, and college aspirations.
- Communicate and collaborate with parents to create and support postsecondary education plans.
- Promote career exploration by arranging job shadows, internships, and work opportunities.
- Advocate for students’ physical, mental, and chemical health by connecting them with community resources as needed.
- Supervise AmeriCorps staff and recruit/manage volunteer tutors for one-on-one or small group support.
- Coordinate with teachers, counselors, and social workers to adjust academic support and interventions as needed.
- Monitor attendance, design interventions, and conduct home visits when necessary to support student success.
- Organize and lead college visits, summer program recruitment, and assist with college applications, financial aid, and scholarships.
- Support parent engagement through events and, when needed, provide transportation for students lacking reliable means
Required Qualities:
- Ability to engage and communicate effectively with RISE students and their families
- Ability to work collaboratively with RISE team members, school district staff and other groups and organizations
- Ability to supervise volunteer tutors and AmeriCorps staff
- Ability to plan, implement and evaluate academic support interventions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and work with different cultures and backgrounds
- Ability to collect and analyze data to inform programming
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work select evening and weekend hours
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or Somali
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license and the ability to travel within Rice County
- Willingness to maintain the standards, carry out the purpose, and adhere to the policies of the Healthy Community Initiative
- Maintenance of a cell phone is an expectation of employment
Preferred Qualities:
- Familiarity with Faribault and Rice County organizations and resources
- Familiarity with higher education resources and opportunities
- Experience in grant writing and grant reporting
