Healthy Community Initiative

Spring 2020 was unlike any other YouthBank had ever seen!  As the country went into lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic the YouthBank team had to re-think how they could connect with their peers and have a positive impact on the community.  The team decided to not hold a traditional grant round and instead funded two projects that they led.

The YouthBank team was eager to recognize the myriad of ways that their peers were stepping forward and helping out others during this very unique time period.  Advertising via Instagram and TikTok the YouthBank team encouraged their peers to send in videos of themselves helping others and coming forward to support their community in new and different ways.  From taking extra shifts at grocery stores to cover for their more medically vulnerable co-workers, to making masks for the hospital, to running an on-line gaming community to entertain their peers, Northfield youth truly stepped up to fill critical needs, and YouthBank was happy to recognize, celebrate and reward their work with gift cards and public recognition.
