Youth Grants
Northfield Union of Youth Winter Needs
December 2020
For the youth that come to the Key, it is often more than just a place to be social and hang-out with their friends, it is a place to meet and interact with adults that can help connect them to resources they otherwise might not have. Whether those are academic, financial, or emotional resources the connections made at the Key are invaluable for many youth in our community. With COVID precautions in place, the Key is limited in the number of people that can be in the building at one time, however youth are continuing to come to the Key and hangout outside with their friends and while they wait for “their turn” to come inside and access all of the resources the space has to offer. In order to keep these youth as safe as possible the Northfield Union of Youth (NUY) youth board applied for a grant to purchase and make available cold-weather needs. These include winter coats, gloves and hats, hand-warmers and a commercial grade outdoor heater. In addition, the grant will pay for a supply of COVID at home tests to keep youth as safe as possible during this time.
