Healthy Community Initiative

Three youth that regularly attend the Key Youth Center in Northfield developed this grant to start a program for attendees at the Key that have interest in music and want to advance their talent, but don’t have the money to get their own instrument or pay for lessons. Music brings people together, and equalizes every human being. Having access to musical equipment allows kids to express how they are feeling in ways musically rather than physically, to have experiences that join us together rather than pushing people apart. The grant will pay for instruments that can be borrowed for several weeks or months and for a stipend to pay instructors to provide lessons at the Key.
