Healthy Community Initiative

Youth Mental Health remains very stigmatized in our world, especially across the generations. Last year the Northfield Union of Youth Mental Health Board received a grant to hold an event which facilitated intergenerational discussions with regards to mental health. The event was extremely successful and the Board applied for a grant to repeat and expand it. The intergenerational dinner and discussion will be the kick-off to several events throughout the year which aim to educate youth, their parents and grandparents on how mental health impacts their generation. Events will include, “Ask a Mental Health Professional”, concerts, and story nights where people share their mental health journey. Talking about, educating, and addressing mental health concerns will continue to destigmatize it for our generation.
