Healthy Community Initiative

Minnesota’s Annual Youth Day at the Capitol does not typically have large participation from students that live outside of the Twin Cities Metro area. The Mayor’s Youth Council wants to change that and ensure that Northfield youth have the opportunity to attend this event, learn how to advocate for themselves and their peers, and ensure that their voices are heard. The YouthBank grant will pay for training and de-briefing sessions, transportation to and from the Capital, and food during the event. This will decrease the barrier many students have of finding transportation to the city for this event. In addition the MYC will use funds to continue their Activity Nights (Marnita’s Table, Bingo, Game Nights) to offer opportunities to bring students together for fun and learning.
