Healthy Community Initiative

Submitted by three youth members of the Northfield Union of Youth Board of Directors, this proposal addresses an issue that many are hesitant to talk about openly and directly. This group recognized that there are many youth in our community that do not have access to feminine hygiene products, either because they can’t afford them, they aren’t provided for them at home, or they are living on their own or are homeless. These products are a basic necessity for healthy living and they wanted to use their youth center, the Key, as a means of distributing these products to those in need.   This project benefits an often under-recognized group in our community, homeless youth, and the YouthBank team was excited by the impact it could have.

YouthBank funding will provide dispensers for the Key bathrooms and money to buy products to distribute for free for at least one year
