Youth Grants
Black Student Union Book Club
December 2020
Recognizing that the school curriculum does not always do a good job of educating on or encouraging students to read BIPOC literature, Northfield High School’s Black Student Union developed this project to both introduce BIPOC literature to more students, but to also create a forum for discussing important issues regarding race, equity, and justice. Knowledge and exposure lead to understanding, and by exposing youth to different types of literature that surround race, awareness about issues and experiences that other races deal will help equip people to become anti-racist and to advocate for anti-racism. The Book Club will both educate and provide a space for discussion and understanding to take place.
